Halaal spit braai prices Cape Town
Our spit braai prices run from R116 to R272 a head, minimum 25 guests, with no halaal surcharge on any menu. Every rate on this page is the per-head base you would pay — and the meat behind it is certified halaal from a certified halaal butcher, cooked on dedicated equipment by a caterer who holds no halaal certificate.
Spit braai prices per person, by the meat on the rod
Seven of the twelve spit braai caterers we checked in Cape Town publish no price at all. Here are ours. There is no pork spit on this list and there never will be.

The lamb rate is flat — R150 a head whether you are 25 or 250, with no volume discount to haggle over. What changes is the size of the animal.

What the spit braai prices include
Every per-head rate above carries the same base:
- Certified halaal A-grade meat from a certified halaal butcher
- Roast potatoes in garlic and fresh bread rolls
- The spit, rod and fuel for the cook, plus a gazebo over it
- Chafing trays for the buffet and serving utensils
- A chef on site for the whole cook, carving at the buffet
- Setup before and clean-up after
The lamb works out at 400 g raw a guest — about 250 g on the plate once bone and moisture are out. Coals, ash, bones and our own packaging leave with us.

Other caterers' published rates, for comparison: capetownhalalplatters listed R185 a head for 500 g and Theo's R205.50 a head for halaal when we checked in September 2026, and several of the larger caterers price by guest band at an effective R220 to R267 a head.

Questions about the prices
Are these spit braai prices the final figure?
The per-head rate times your guest count is the base. Any extras you choose are added per head, and past 30 km a travel fee by distance band is added. All of it is on the written quote before you agree to anything.
Is there a halaal surcharge?
No. Some Cape Town caterers add about R20 a head for halaal. Halaal is the only way we cook, so there is nothing to surcharge.
What happens if fewer guests arrive?
You are quoted and charged on the number you confirm, with a floor of 25. The butcher's order and the lamb are bought against that figure a few days ahead.
Do you price per function instead of per head?
No. Per-head pricing is the point — you can multiply it yourself and check the quote. Package pricing by guest band is how a R7,000 function becomes R9,000.
