Halaal wedding caterers Cape Town
As halaal wedding caterers Cape Town couples book for on-site spit braais, we cook a whole lamb at your venue and carve it in front of the guests, from R165 a head. The meat is certified halaal from a certified halaal butcher and our equipment has never carried pork — and we hold no halaal certificate ourselves, which matters most at a wedding, so it is the first thing we tell you.
Certified halaal meat, dedicated equipment, and no certificate of our own.
Those are two different claims, and most caterers blur them. We hold no certificate from the Muslim Judicial Council, SANHA, NIHT or any other halaal authority. What we do hold is a supply chain we can show you: meat bought certified from a halaal butcher, a spit, rod, trays and carving kit that have never carried pork, preparation kept away from non-halaal food, and no wine, beer or pork derivative in any baste or marinade.
Whether that is enough is your call and your family's, not ours. If certification is a requirement for your guests then we are not the right caterer, and we will tell you that up front. You can ask us for the butcher's certificate before you commit a cent.
What halaal wedding caterers Cape Town need from your venue
Check these five before you sign with any spit caterer, ourselves included. Two of them disqualify a venue outright.
Wedding packages and what they cost
Per head, so the catering line in your budget stops moving once the guest count is fixed.
| Package | Per person |
|---|---|
| Meat-only lamb spit The lamb, cooked and carved. You handle the sides. | R165 |
| Lamb spit and salads The usual booking. Lamb, three salads and fresh rolls. | R195 |
| Full halaal-friendly spread Lamb, salads, two hot sides and a dessert. | R220 |
| Two-meat feast Lamb plus chicken on the second rod, for mixed crowds. | R245 |
A 120-guest wedding on the two-meat feast is 120 × R245 = R29,400. On the lamb-and-salads package the same wedding is R23,400.
Guests who need certified catering
At a wedding this question is rarely yours alone — it belongs to parents, in-laws and an imam. Some families accept a caterer who buys certified meat and keeps dedicated equipment. Some require the caterer itself to be certified.
If yours is the second kind, book a certified caterer. We would rather hand you that sentence in September than have it raised at the reception. If you are unsure, ask us for the butcher's certificate and take it to whoever needs to see it.
Wedding questions
Can you cater a mixed halaal and non-halaal wedding?
Yes, and it is the commonest booking we take. The spit is halaal for everyone, so there is one buffet and nobody has to ask which tray is which.
How many guests does a whole lamb serve at a wedding?
About 30 at 400 g a head. A 120-guest wedding runs four lambs, or two lambs and chicken on the second rod.
What time do you need to start?
Roughly five hours before you want to serve. For a 6pm reception we are on site by 1pm, which usually means we arrive while the photographs are being taken.
What if the venue does not allow open fire?
Then we cannot cater it, and it is better to find that out now. Ask the venue specifically about a charcoal spit, not just about outside caterers.
